FC United General Meeting 2008
FC United of Manchester’s 2008 General Meeting is to be held on Sunday 13th April.
FC United hold two general meetings each year, the next one takes place on Sunday April 13th 2008. General Meetings of the Club are an opportunity for members to shape club policy and influence its future direction. The board is keen for members to have a greater input to the organisation and running of the club and its general meetings, and proposes establishing a ‘meeting arrangements committee’; this committee will work with the Club Secretary to help organise the Annual General Meeting, held in Autumn, and the General Meeting, held in the Spring.
The meeting arrangements committee will consist of three members, the Club Secretary and a board representative. Any member wishing to stand for election to the committee must be 18 years of age by the date of the meeting where election is sought and have continuous club membership during the previous twelve months. Members who wish to stand should submit their full name in writing to the club offices quoting their address and FC United membership number, along with the name and FC United membership number of two supporting FC United members. Only existing members may stand for election or nominate candidates.
If a member wishes to submit a resolution for consideration at the General Meeting, Rule 24 of the Club’s Constitution provides that notice of that resolution must be given in writing to the Club no later than 28 days before the date of the meeting, in this instance by no later than 12 noon on 16th March 2008. Rule 24 also provides that the member giving notice of the proposed resolution must also give the Club his or her justification for that proposed resolution, as well as its form and content, and that the notice of the resolution must be signed by the proposer as well as five other members.
The Board also asks that the members signing the proposed resolution give their full names and membership numbers, so that their memberships may be verified, and that the proposer give their full name, membership number and telephone number.
Any members intending to submit or propose resolutions are strongly urged to read Rule 24 of the Club’s Constitution, a copy of which is available on this website available by clicking here.

The Notice of the General Meeting will be sent to members at least 14 clear days before the date of the meeting.
Membership for the 2007/08 season will close on Tuesday 25th March 2008 and reopen after the General Meeting.
Only members over the age of 16 are able to attend and vote at the AGM.
