Riesa Tournament Announced

FC United have been invited to attend an indoor cup in the city of Riesa and we are pleased to announce that we have accepted this invitation.

The tournament will be played on Saturday 5th January 2007. The league has kindly agreed for FC United to attend this tournament and we have received permission from The FA to take part. The delay in confirming this tournament to supporters was waiting for permission from The FA.

The board have considered this invitation carefully and after consultation with Karl and the team it was decided that this would be a great opportunity for the players and also for FC United. The tournament is a well established national event in the German football calendar and is televised and broadcast across Germany. We consider it a tremendous tribute to be invited to play.

Manager Karl Marginson said ‘this is a fantastic opportunity to be playing against some top quality competition.

Karl added ‘we will be using this trip has a team building exercise and see it has a fantastic opportunity to give our young players some great experience’.

The tournament itself will consist of six teams in two groups. Each squad consists of a maximum of twelve players and each team consists of one keeper and four outfield players with ten minutes each way, with teams playing others in their group followed by a final to determine an overall winner of the tournament.

Other clubs taking part are:
