It has come to the club’s attention that at the recent home game against AFC Fylde on Saturday 10th September, some of our fans were witnessed drinking alcoholic beverages brought to the SMRE from one of the club bars.

Other individuals were also witnessed drinking their own alcohol smuggled into the ground in the SMRE. There were also incidences of fans, including children, being caught outside the turnstiles trying to smuggle in alcohol.

These actions are in serious breach of our ground regulations along with having the potential to jeapordise our licencing agreement, which could see the club potentially losing its right to sell alcohol within the ground. As a members-owned club, we the fans have a duty to act in the best interest of our club. This means not jeopardising it in this way.

We at FC United have long been proud of our commitment to "self-policing" within our fanbase which results in us being able to enjoy the football with minimal stewarding. This may have to change however if this behaviour persists. We call upon those responsible for bringing their own alcohol to games to cease this behaviour immediately and we ask other FCUM fans who witness any incidents such as this in the future to remind their fellow supporters of the potential consequences of their actions.

We would also like to remind these supporters that should they require a drink once inside Broadhurst Park, the SMRE bar beneath the stand is open before the start of the match and at half time, while the function room in the main stand is serving before kick-off and after full time. We trust that we will have the support of the fanbase on this issue.
