We’ll meet again
FC United lock horns with old rivals Flixton on Wednesday in the Quarter Finals of the Manchester FA Premier Cup as the Reds look to win some silverware for the third consecutive season.
After claiming the scalp of holders and much fancied Blue Square Premier outfit Droylsden in a superb night of giant killing at the Butcher’s Arms back in October, the Reds now face a team their south west Manchester rivals once again.
United know all about Flixton having played out some entertaining league fixtures against them in the North West Counties Division Two in the inaugural season and then the following year in Division One.
Flixton were in fact one of the only teams the Reds failed to beat en route to their first ever title, drawing 1-1 at Valley Road and losing 2-1 in the return fixture at Gigg Lane. However, in the following campaign any notion that they may be a bogey team were put to bed when the Valley Roaders were thrashed 4-0.
With United back to winning ways beating Curzon Ashton and Mossley in style, Wednesday’s game should prove to be an interesting encounter with a real cup atmosphere. The match takes places and Radcliffe Borough’s Inn2gether Stadium and prices are just six pounds for adults and two pounds for concessions. Get yourself to that football ground.
