The game started with the home side in the ascendency with Stephen Thompson forcing a save from Ryan Schofield. A minute later the lead taken by Darlington with a long range shot from David Ferguson that flew into the top corner of the net.

On 14 minutes the lead was doubled when a good move down down the left saw a cross headed back across goal for Mark Beck to nod home. Four minutes later Sam Sheridan played in Kieran Glynn who saw his shot saved by Adam Bartlett.

Shortly before the half hour the lead was extended when Jordan Fagbola tripped Beck in the box for a penalty. Terence Galbraith stepped up and converted confidently. Two minutes later, the FC defence was opened up again and Ferguson saw his shot well saved by Schofield, the ball was then worked back to Beck who headed against the post.

FC United started to come more into the game and goal was pulled back after good work from Tom Greaves saw the ball worked to Tom Brown who slotted home.

The second half started quietly with the first chance on 56 minutes, Nathan Cartman bringing out another good save from Schofield. Ferguson continued his duel with Schofield on 70 minutes, the FC United custodian again stood up to the task.

Substitute Tomi Adeloye saw a good shot tipped over by Bartlett before the lead was again extended as Gary Brown was played in and slotted under Schofield. In the last minute of the game Adeloye scored his first FC United goal when headed in a Matthew Wolfenden cross.

All in all the performance from FC was an improvement on the previous couple of games with more chances created but the performance from FC keeper Schofield did ensure the score was respectable.

Website man of the match - Ryan Schofield. No chance with the goals and some sharp saves keep the home side at bay.
